The link on the right goes to more drawings like the ones below, which were built up using an eraser on a heavily worked graphite surface. This way of working seems to be more expressive and better tonally.

I'm now using a pen to add line to this method of working, producing what my Photoshop cours called vignettes - early results on the What's New page. Click on the image on the right for a larger version.
