In the painting, Dancer (mixed paint media on canvas, 6' sq) the dancer was copied from a photograph and meticulously built up from glazes of oil paint, while the background was loosely worked from drawing in the landscape. The background uses household emulsion, torn up cardboard, sticky tape and all sorts.

The sculpture, made from brushed aluminium, torn up newspaper, masking tape, a nail and a clock was originally built as a maquette to help me work out where the shadow goes in the painting, but it soon took on a life of it's own.

It is called Captured Beauty.
